Margaret Light
Violet Needle Roll

The leaves, flowers and buds of the native violets in my garden have been interwoven into the trailing, Arts and Crafts style design decorating this miniature needleroll, typical of late Victorian sewing accessories.
Stitched on ivory silk/wool twill with Gumnut silk threads, the finished piece (9 x 16 cm) folds around a 4 x 8 cm pincushion. With a pocket for small embroidery scissors and a flannel needlepage, it is the perfect small accessory to tuck into your workbag for class.
Skill level – Intermediate
AU$60 kit contains silk/wool fabric, cotton backing fabric, violet silk dupion lining fabric, Dr Flannel, Gumnut silk Buds, comprehensive embroidery  and making up instructions.
