Beginning Steps in Machine Embroidery - creating patterns with material, thread, paint and heat.
In the first part of this class we will make samples using different machine embroidery techniques. Each student will then plan and start a major piece using her favourite technique(s); to be completed after the Wanaka School.
• Machine stitching will include stitching straight lines and curved lines using straight stitching, satin stitching, and filling stitches.
• Fabric techniques will include appliqué, reverse appliqué, layering and stitching, and a contemporary technique including painting, layering, machine stitching and heating.
• Fabric cords will be made for use as edgings, handles for bags and decorative embellishment.
• Students can make their samples large enough to turn into small items such as, clutch bags, glasses cases or small Christmas stockings. The major piece can be made any size the student desires
